QR Code – What is it for?

What is a QR Code?

As I browse through my favorite websites and blogs, even on social networking websites such as Facebook. I noticed many people are putting on their personal or website’sย QR code.

That made me interested to write about it.

Here’s the definition of Wikipedia, “A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera telephones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, URL, or other data.”

I did a quick research about QR codes and I found out that they are typically the same as bar codes found on the products sold in stores; however, QR Codes are different because it is a type of 2D bar code, which is often used for tagging using the mobile phones. It was developed in year 1994, and this bar code 2D technology was primarily embraced by Korea and Japan. It has been spread out worldwide and its noticeable that many websites, individuals, and businesses are using it to identify themselves.
